Purpose:
The Trust, in collaboration with the Charles Wallace (India) Trust, awards up to three Fellowships annually for further professional training, study, education or research.

Eligibility:
Citizens of India at an early stage in their professional career normally employed by museums, galleries, or other specified institutions concerned with the preservation, study and display of India's art and cultural heritage.

Duration and timing:
The Fellowships are normally for a period of three months and must be taken up the financial year immediately subsequent to the award (from April 1st to March 31st of the subsequent year).

UK institutional affiliation:
The Fellowships may be held either at the Victoria and Albert Museum or at one or more other approved arts or cultural institutions in the United Kingdom. Candidates must contact the institution(s) to which they hope to be attached before submitting their application, to ensure that their proposed plan of training, study or research can be accommodated and to gain the receiving institution's agreement in principle to their proposed visit.

Candidates must submit documentation indicating the receiving institution's agreement to their proposed visit.

Funds allocated:
The Fellowships provide a return air fare to and from the UK and a maintenance allowance etc. for a single person.

Final report:
At the conclusion of their visit, Visiting Fellows must submit a detailed report of their work to the Trust which, in the case of holders of Fellowships jointly funded be the Nehru Trust and The Charles Wallace (India) Trust, must also be submitted to the Charles Wallace (India) Trust. This report should be certified by a representative of the award holder's host institution.
