2. Dr Damayanti Datta
Lecturer, Jadavpur University, Calcutta, to carry out research on the diffusion of English language and the rise of the bilingual intelligentsia of 19th century Bengal, at the British Library and other UK institutions;
3. Dr Buddha Rashmi Man I
Director of Archaeology, Archaeological Survey of India, Srinagar Circle, to study terracotta and clay materials of the Kushan period (1st to 4th centuries) in the V&A and other UK collections;


2001-2002
1. Dr Bishnupriya Basak
Research Fellow, Centre for Archaeological Studies & Training, Kolkata, to study different methods of interpreting human behaviour from archaeological artefacts, taking stone tools in the Indian context as the focus, at the Institute of Archaeology, London;
2. Miss Vasudha Joshi
Conservator, Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage, New Delhi, to do research and receive training in conservation and restoration of easel paintings, at the Conservation Centre, National Museums & Galleries on Merseyside;
3 Mrs Sujata Parsai
Curator, T API (Textiles & Arts of the People of India) Museum, Surat, for professional training in modern methods of storage and preventive conservation, documentation and museum interpretation, at the V&A, London.


2002-2003
1. Ms. Arundhati Banerjee
Deputy Superintendent Archaeologist, Archaeological Survey of India, New Delhi, to study collections in the UK as part of a study of the chronology of terracotta figurines of Pre-Kushan times from the Gandharan region
2. Mrs Satarupa Dutta
Co-ordinator & Research Scholar, Crafts Council of West Bengal, Kolkata, to study Satgaon quilts (lindo-Portuguese trade textiles from Bengal) and related materials in the V&A and other UK institutions.
3. Dr Sarita Khettry
Research Fellow, The Asiatic Society, Kolkata, to study the collections of Gandharan art in UK museums and institutions in relation to a planned monograph on Mahayana iconography in Gandhara
4. Dr Padmanabh Samarendra
Lecturer, Department of History, SA Jaipuria College, Calcutta University, Kolkata, for a research study entitled: Science, colonial state and indigenous opinions: enumeration of caste by H.H.Risley, at the British Library and other UK institutions
