The Trust proposes to award a number of small study and research grants to Indian scholars and professionals engaged in the study of India's art and culture for the purpose of facilitating access to research materials in the United Kingdom, during the period April 2008 to March 2009.

These awards, which will normally be of a maximum of £500, are available to Indian scholars needing to acquire primary research materials (copies of documentation, photographs and other unpublished materials, and, in exceptional circumstances, printed and published material) essential to their research, from the Victoria and Albert Museum or other approved institutions in the United Kingdom. Applicants are advised to specify the exact nature of the research materials required at the outset of their proposal.

At the conclusion of the tenure of their awards, recipients of awards will be required to submit a report of their work and a financial statement of their expenses, along with copies of their initial estimates. This statement should be certified by a representative of the award holder's employer or host institution or his/her academic supervisor.
