Purpose: The Trust annually awards a number of Small Study and Research Grants for the purpose of research and can include costs of research related travel, maintenance, and other associated costs. nd research related travel in India, during the period from April 1st to March 31st of the subsequent year. Eligibility: Citizens of India who are scholars and professionals engaged in the study of India's art and culture. Availability/accessibility of material: Although no formal institutional affiliation is required, candidates must demonstrate that they have established communication with all institutions relevant to their application. Funds allocated: These awards are normally of a maximum of Rs. 20,000/-. Grants of a maximum of Rs. 12,500/- will be awarded initially. Candidates will be eligible to apply for an additional grant of Rs. 7,500/- on completion of their project. Final report: On completion of the research, award holders must submit a report of their work and a financial statement of their expenses, along with copies of initial expenses. This statement should be certified by a representative of the award holder's employer or host institution or his/her academic supervisor. Conditions Of Small Study and Research Grants (India) The Trustees wish to clarity the terms on which awards of Rs. 20,000/- are offered. These awards are made on the following conditions: Detailed project submission 1. Applicants are required to submit a full statement of the detailed costs, itinerary and timetable of their project, before the award is confirmed and payments are made. 2. The statement must be countersigned by the applicant's academic supervisor or other guide or guarantor. Payment 1. The award less Rs. 7,500/- (see below 3) will only be paid on receipt and approval of the above statement.. Reports 1. At the end of the project the award holder must submit a full report of the work carried out, including the academic results of the study undertaken, in both hard copy and electronic copy. If the award has contributed to a larger piece of work, e.g. the dissertation for a degree, the award holder is requested to supply a copy of the full dissertation. The Trust will retain the copy of this report. This report must be countersigned by the award holder's supervisor. 2. The award holder must also submit a statement of accounts at the conclusion of the project. This report must be countersigned by the supervisor, guide or guarantor. 3. On receipt of these reports the award-holder will be eligible to receive the final Rs. 7,500'/- of the award. 4. The Trust will indicate in its annual advertisement booklet which award holders have submitted their final reports. 5. Award holders who have submitted their final reports will receive a signed certificate and will become associates of the Nehru Trust for the Indian Collections at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
