1. Ms Anne Buddle
Registrar, National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh, for research on the rule of Tipu Sultan, with particular focus on Scots in India 1760-1800, for an exhibition 'The Tiger and the Thistle' to be held in Edinburgh, summer 1999;
2. Dr John Clarke
Assistant Curator, Indian & South-East Asian Department, V&A Museum, London, for research towards a catalogue of the Himalayan collection in the V&A Museum;
3. Miss Anna Hillcoat
MA student, Royal College of ArtN&A Museum, London, to study the contemporary use and production of scroll paintings and the techniques of miniature painting in relation to the conservation of similar objects at the V&A Museum;
4. Miss Nicole Lee Boivin
PhD research student, Faculty of Archaeology & Anthropology, University of Cambridge, for fieldwork in Rajasthan and Gujarat, to examine the settlement organisation and architecture of the Chalcolithic period in Western India;
5. Miss Caroline Jane Cook
Assistant Keeper of non-western Art, Brighton Museum & Art Gallery, for research on historical and contemporary collections of textiles from Gujarat;
6. Miss Divia Patel
Curatorial Assistant, Indian & South-East Asian Department, V&A Museum, London, for study and research and development of contacts in contemporary art studies in India;

2. Dr Christopher Pinney
