The trust, in collaboration with the Charles Wallace (India) Trust, proposes to award three Fellowships for further professional training, study, education or research to citizens of India at an early stage in their professional career normally employed by museums, galleries, or other specified institutions concerned with the preservation, study and display of India's art and cultural heritage.

The Fellowships are tenable at the Victoria and Albert Museum or other associated institutions in the United Kingdom, are normally for a period of three months (to fall between April 2008 and March 2009), and provide a return air fare to and from the UK and a maintenance allowance etc. for a single person.

The Trust proposes to make two awards to provide the opportunity to citizens of India who are established scholars or professionals working in museums, galleries, or other specified institutions concerned with the preservation, study and display of India's art and cultural heritage, to visit the Victoria and Albert Museum and/or approved associated UK institution for short periods for study, research or the exchange or ideas of mutual professional interest with colleagues in the United Kingdom.

The Trust proposes to award a number of small study and research grants to Indian scholars and professionals engaged in the study of India's art and culture for the purpose of facilitating access to research materials in the United Kingdom.

These awards, which will normally be of a maximum of £ 500, are available to Indian scholars needing to acquire primary research materials (copies of documentation, photographs and other unpublished materials, and, in exceptional circumstances, printed and published material) essential to their research, from the Victoria and Albert Museum or other approved institutions in the United Kingdom. Applicants are advised to specify the exact nature of the research materials required at the outset of their proposal.
