Trust Awards - 2008-2009 The
trust, in collaboration with the Charles Wallace (India) Trust, proposes
to award three Fellowships for further professional training, study,
education or research to citizens of India at an early stage in their
professional career normally employed by museums, galleries, or other
specified institutions concerned with the preservation, study and
display of India's art and cultural heritage. The Fellowships are tenable at the Victoria and Albert Museum or other associated institutions in the United Kingdom, are normally for a period of three months (to fall between April 2008 and March 2009), and provide a return air fare to and from the UK and a maintenance allowance etc. for a single person. The
Trust proposes to make two awards to provide the opportunity to citizens
of India who are established scholars or professionals working in
museums, galleries, or other specified institutions concerned with the
preservation, study and display of India's art and cultural heritage, to
visit the Victoria and Albert Museum and/or approved associated UK
institution for short periods for study, research or the exchange or
ideas of mutual professional interest with colleagues in the United
Kingdom. The
Trust proposes to award a number of small study and research grants to
Indian scholars and professionals engaged in the study of India's art
and culture for the purpose of facilitating access to research materials
in the United Kingdom. These awards, which will normally be of a maximum of £ 500, are available to Indian scholars needing to acquire primary research materials (copies of documentation, photographs and other unpublished materials, and, in exceptional circumstances, printed and published material) essential to their research, from the Victoria and Albert Museum or other approved institutions in the United Kingdom. Applicants are advised to specify the exact nature of the research materials required at the outset of their proposal. The
Trust proposes to award a number of Small Study and Research Grants to
Indian scholars and professionals engaged in the study of India's art
and culture for the purpose of research in India. These awards, which will normally be of a maximum of Rs. 15,000/- are available to Indian scholars, professional persons, research students, and others engaged in the study of Indian art and culture for travel or research within India, for maintenance during the costs of travel and other research costs. The
Trust proposes to make three awards to UK-based scholars or
professionals employed by museums, galleries or other specified
institutions concerned with the preservation, study and display of
India's art and cultural heritage, for short visits to India for the
purpose of research, training, scholarship or professional
collaboration. The awards, which will be of a maximum of Rs. 50,000, are intended to be held in conjunction with awards from other bodies as a part-cost contribution towards the costs of maintenance and internal travel expenses within India. Applicants are expected to fund international travel travel costs from other sources. At the conclusion of the tenure of their awards, recipients of awards will be required to submit a report of their work and a financial statement of their expenses, along with copies of their initial estimates. This statement should be certified by a representative of the award holder's employer or host institution or his / her academic supervisor. Jain Art Fund Awards 1. UK Visiting Fellowship For up to 3 months UK based research (maximum grant £3800). 2. UK Travel Awards For 2 short study trip awards to the UK (maximum grant £1000). 3. India Travel Awards For UK based researchers and curators (maximum grant £1000, possibly 2 grants of £500). 4. Small Study and Research Grants (India) Maximum grant Rs. 15,000/-
